With medical insurance in the top three issues that Americans want to see their next President resolve, it's becoming quite clear that 2009 is going to be the year of health care.

And it looks like the nominees know it too.

At a recent health care forum, former Senate Majority Leader and Presidential nominee Bob Dole suggested that regardless of who wins the elections in November, it's time to deal with the American need for quality, affordable health insurance.

And already speculation has been afoot regarding how the selection of vice presidential running mates will impact the medical insurance debates.

Three of the men said to be on John McCain's "short list" for vice president have seen a lot of press in their home states regarding their attempts to provide more affordable health insurance to state residents.

Mitt Romney created a Massachusetts health care plan that has tried to cover everyone, but has encountered problems with cost and enforcing issues of legality.

Charlie Crist received a lot of attention this year for pushing through an affordable health insurance plan in Florida, but already that plan is being panned as not covering enough for Floridians.

And Tim Pawlenty wants to revise medical insurance by revamping health records and supporting Health Savings Accounts.

Did you know...
Medical Insurance is in the top 3 issues that Americans want their next President to tackle?

And while no one knows who he - or Barack Obama - will choose as their running mate, it's looking clear that Bob Dole is probably right; 2009 is going to see some kind of change for our health care system.

Hopefully it will be the kind that will provide high-quality, affordable health insurance to everyone without leading us into further economic distress.
