President Obama's State of the Union speech focused heavily on small business opportunities, which is appropriate since they do much of the hiring in this country, as well as drive our economy forward in a variety of ways.

He also focused on medical coverage, and the health care legislation that has been stalled in Congress for the last few weeks.

So, how will small business health insurance come out of all this? After all, the majority of small business owners report medical coverage to be a difficult issue for them face. Costs are very high, and too many employers are faced with a choice between making ends meet, and paying for their employees' insurance.

One means of approaching it is by recasting the health care debate in terms of small business health insurance. President Obama rightly suggested that the current cost of health care is dragging down businesses' ability to create new jobs.

He also reiterated that his plan would reduce medical coverage costs and premiums for families and businesses, but as we have all seen, getting any form of health care legislation to pass in Congress is far easier said than done.

Facts on:

How will small business health insurance come out of all this?

Did you know...
The majority of small business owners report medical coverage to be a difficult issue for them to face. Costs are very high, and too many employers are faced with a choice between making ends meet, and paying for their employees' insurance.
Thankfully, arguments on both sides of the political spectrum tend to focus on the need to lower costs for small business health insurance - everyone knows that small businesses need help paying for insurance, they just can't agree on how to go about doing it.

Only one thing seems certain, just walking away from the issue is not advisable, and most legislators are aware that some change must happen. With the current rising costs of health care, too many business owners are unable to offer coverage to their employees and families.

Not to mention themselves.
