Polling in the last year reveals a roller coaster of public opinion regarding the health care bill. Some Americans love it, some hate it, some want it to offer more and others think it should disappear entirely.

But according to the most recent polls, the real issue is that while almost everyone wants affordable health insurance, no one knows how to make that happen.

With Republicans hitting the health care bill hard and threatening to overturn or repeal it, public opinion of the bill has sunk to another low, with half of those who responded saying that they oppose all or some part of it.

However, according to Reuters the same poll reports that the Republican plan to defund the bill is also unpopular, with 62% saying they don't like that route for changing medical coverage in America.

What does this mean?

Mainly that Americans recognize that some kind of change must happen in our medical coverage system. Too many people are struggling to get coverage, too many are denied by insurance companies, and too many wish they could switch theirs for a more affordable health insurance plan.

Facts on:

Affordable Health Insurance

Did you know...
Recent polling finds the health care bill sinking in popularity.

The problem is that exactly how to do this has divided Americans along bitter lines. Many left-leaning Americans are angry that the health care bill doesn't offer a public option, while those who lean right are angry that all Americans will be required to purchase some form of medical coverage.

And Medicare is another issue, with seniors feeling threatened that their source of health coverage is in danger.

Many people are suspicious of the state-run insurance plans that are slated to offer affordable health coverage in 2014, fearing that coverage will be too limited, or conversely not limited enough.

As these divides and disagreements grow deeper in America, it's hard to predict exactly what the health care bill will look like by 2014.

If it survives that long at all.
