Could They Lead To More Affordable Health Insurance?
The next big thing in diet pills may be black soya, according to studies from the Journal of Science of Food and Agriculture. Black soya bean studies in rats have been linked to the prevention of weight gain, and in a country plagued by obesity and the rising costs of healthcare, could diet pills lead to more
affordable health insurance?
With 60% of Americans either overweight or obese, healthcare costs have skyrocketed, and will only go up. Whether its type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, or cancer, the incidents of such illnesses are growing alongside our waistlines, and health insurance premiums have ballooned to ridiculous proportions. Recent statistics reveal that healthcare costs for obesity in America are around $100 billion dollars a year, and that figure is still going up.
But at the same time more than 12 million Americans are taking diet pills. Could they lead to the healthier America we need, and the insurance we can afford?
Apparently, it isn't likely.
Over the counter diet pills are notoriously ineffective, and several big name brands have recently been slapped with lawsuits related to fraudulent claims. In other words, it's impossible to lose 30 pounds in a month, and if any drug makes claims that seem too good to be true, that's because they probably are.
Some have actually proven to do more harm than good, like the ephedra laced brands that caused many women and men to die of heart attacks. At best, experts argue that you'll only lose 2 or 3 pounds with these drugs, and the damage they do to your system just isn't worth it.
And prescription diet pills can have seriously unpleasant side effects, and even lead to dependency. These require close monitoring by a doctor, and should only be taken in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise, which will in turn take the weight off anyway.

More than 12 million Americans are taking diet pills?

The sad truth is that if healthy came in a pill, we'd all be healthy. The only proven methods of taking off the weight and improving health is regular exercise and a healthy diet, and not until this becomes regular practice will obesity cease to shorten the American lifespan.
Along with that will come more affordable health insurance, as well as a huge loss in income for those companies that promote diet pills.
