At azstarnet.com, it's a familiar fear. One couple can't afford medical coverage because they have existing health problems, but they're too young to qualify for Medicare.
For others, the high costs of prescription drugs make health insurance rates obsolete - why pay such high premiums if you can't afford the medications anyway?
This situation is reaching a critical point in Arizona, and in every other state in America. Millions of people can't afford medical coverage, and even if they could it usually offers inadequate coverage for important medications or services.
One doctor put it perfectly, "since insurers are in the business to make money, there will always be patients who are denied coverage in order to keep the insurers' costs down and profits up."
Hopefully upcoming federal and state legislation will prove helpful in alleviating some of the stress for consumers. Until then, people will need to shop around carefully for competitive health insurance rates, and hope for good health.
